We’re getting married!
Belfast Castle ·
If you’re on this page, you’ve most likely been invited to celebrate with us on our wedding day, 20 July!
You’ll find details of the itinerary for the weekend, along with travel advice for those of you making your way to Ireland from the United States. We’ve also included information on everything we think might be helpful for you, including places to stay, visit, eat, and drink.
Belfast Castle · Cavehill Country Park
The wedding will be held on Saturday the 20th of July at Belfast Castle on the slopes of the picturesque Cavehill in North Belfast. The ceremony is scheduled for 4:00PM with a drinks reception and dinner to follow, and will conclude at 1:00AM on Sunday morning.
Belfast Castle is just under four miles from the city centre, and easily reached by bus, taxi, or foot if you’d like.
Any Route 1 Metro bus service by the city’s public transport operator, Translink, will take you past the driveway that leads to the Castle. From there, there is a short walk of around ten minutes to the Castle itself. Alternatively, a taxi will take you directly to the Castle, saving you the walk.
For those joining us from abroad
First of all, thank you so much for making the trip to Belfast! We appreciate the effort and expense involved in getting here, and we’re really looking forward to having you all here with us. If you have any specific questions or issues please contact either of us (our phone numbers can be found at the bottom of the page).
Unfortunately, there are no direct flights from Boston Logan International, or any of the NJ/NY airports to Belfast. Because of this, the most straightforward option is to fly to Dublin and take a coach to Belfast from there. The flight typically takes six hours flying east (seven returning west), and the coach journey lasts around two hours.
Due to the five-hour time difference, keep in mind that any evening flights will arrive the next day in Ireland.
There are two coach services, both of which run once every hour or so.
Alternatively, you can fly into one of the many London airports and take a direct flight from there to Belfast. If you intend on travelling via London, you will have the option of flying into Belfast International or George Best Belfast City — the better option is Belfast City due to its location in the centre of Belfast, but a shuttle bus runs every hour on the hour between Belfast International and the city centre. There are also taxi ranks outside both airports’ arrivals buildings.
Where to stay
There are plenty of hotels in the city, ranging from budget-friendly to extravagant if you’d appreciate being in the city centre to experience Belfast’s vibrant pub scene. There are also a handful of B&Bs in the vicinity of the Castle, with convenient access to the beautiful Cavehill Country Park if that’s more appealing to you. Listed below are some of the better-located options, but if you need any advice from us, just ask!
